Shift Maintenance Technician
Sleaford, Lincolnshire
to cGBP31,500 + benefits
Our client has a rich heritage spanning almost 200 years and is recognised globally as a market leading provider of bespoke solutions to the renewable energy and power plant sector. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of structured and strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Shift Maintenance Technician to complement their highly successful team.
Based near Sleaford and reporting to the duty Shift Team Leader, the Shift Maintenance Technician will work on a 35 day cycle consisting of 14 shifts - 7 day & 7 night shift basis and be responsible for ensuring the safe operation and environmental performance of the plant and security of the site, ensuring operation within environmental limits at all times whilst achieving maximum commercial availability, reliability and efficiency.
Working as part of a team, you will - using "on shift resources" - undertake both PPM and reactive maintenance as well as operational routines and testing to achieve agreed availability and reliability targets, whilst ensuring compliance at all times to relevant site safety rules and procedures and applicable health and safety legislation as appropriate.
With a flexible approach to supporting the business and the ability to adjust your working pattern as required, you will be a hands on individual able to undertake general fault find and repair activities whilst ensuring adherence to HSE policies and assisting in the review and development of site operations procedures on an ongoing continuous improvement basis, monitoring plant performance and proactively supporting measures to improve efficiency wherever possible and recording the information on the site CMMS.
Other duties will include assisting in the monitoring and testing of the site emergency / abnormal conditions plans and ensuring all plant simulations are managed in line with established procedures. You will ensure, through correct operation and monitoring, compliance with all aspects of the Environmental Permit - reporting any potential and actual incidents to the Shift Team Leader, and will undertake routine plant inspections, operational routines, adjustments and testing alongside the collecting and recording of plant data.
Specific to this position, you will provide operational support for the maintenance and fuel handling teams to maximise plant performance and safety, particularly during fuel delivery and by-product removal periods, and provide support for the receipt of all plant operational chemicals onto site.
To be considered for this varied and challenging Shift Maintenance Technician role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least ONC level or above within a relevant engineering discipline and will demonstrate previous practical thermal / process plant operational experience along with a good understanding of all HSE aspects. A full UK driving licence is essential for the position as is the ability to work on a shift basis.
You will ideally possess knowledge of biomass or thermal power plant process, permit and safety systems and possess a "trade" (electrical, mechanical or C&I) background, with general knowledge of steam turbine combustion systems, steam cycle chemistry, generators and plant performance monitoring proving distinctly advantageous, and will hold relevant qualifications in the use of counterbalance FLT / front loaders, telescopic handlers and grab cranes.
