COMPANY DESCRIPTION, PROFILE AND SCOPE OF ROLE:

Our client is a long established and growing UK manufacturing business with an international profile. They consistently make strong and sustained investment in people, capital and plant and are an acknowledged leader in their field.

Reporting to the Operations Director the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a highly competent team of eight, including manufacturing engineers, CAD/CAM Engineers / Technicians and Programmers, the successful candidate will oversee/coordinate the team as they fulfil NPI projects, engaging the team's skills where required to aid the introduction and manufacturing of a wide variety of new products. In addition to managing/helping to develop your team, a sizeable proportion of your time will involve hands on Design / CAD CAM, and you need to have strong Autodesk Inventor knowledge/Experience.

NB: Consideration will also be given to capable candidates who may not have worked at Engineering Manager level, but can demonstrate they have the core competencies, and qualifications to do so, and may have worked in a Senior or Lead Design role, with a high degree of competence with Inventor and strong CAD CAM exposure. You would also need to demonstrate mentoring and development experience.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Carry out hands on design / CAD CAM with a strong emphasis on the use of Autodesk Inventor software.

* Lead, motivate, communicate with, develop, appraise and manage all engineering team staff to maximise efficiency and effectiveness so as to achieve best performance in meeting company requirements

* Liaise with other managers and operational areas regarding improvements, providing feedback on performance issues and information with regards to, but not limited to the New Product Introduction (NPI) process

* Manage/coordinate your team to deliver multiple NPI projects

* Change management

* Demonstrate effective communication across engineering disciplines within the team to efficiently deliver the required objectives

* Ensure that engineering staff comply with Standards and Procedures, Customers, Quality, Regulatory and Company

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

* Engineering/Manufacturing Degree or relevant equivalent experience in similar level role with HND etc.

* Proficient in the use of Autodesk Inventor CAD software

* Able to demonstrate Competency with CAD CAM (Knowledge of Radan desirable, but not essential)

* Excellent communication skills

* Able to manage, motivate, mentor and develop staff

* Experience of working with / designing sheet metal components, fabrications and machined components

* A good understanding of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process

* Proficient in the use of MS Office software

* Knowledge of Radan Sheet Metal CAD/CAM software is desirable
