As a hairdresser you have some fantastic transferable skills. You have a wonderful rapport with people, you know how important it is to look and feel your best and you can hold fantastic conversations with all age groups! This in itself will make the transition to our job vacancy so easy for you.
Hairdressing to Care Giving
Over the years hairdressers have been welcomed to our fantastic team here at Home Instead, they have put down their scissors and joined us working in the local community as a Community Care Assistant & Dementia Companion. Charlene started with us two months ago.
"Before joining Home Instead, I worked in my local hair salon, when lockdown hit, overnight I lost my income, and it was all I had ever done since I left school. As the month's went on, I decided to search for a new career. Becoming a Community Care Assistant & Dementia Companion was daunting, I had never thought of a career in care before. But from my first contact with the office and getting to know their unique approach to care, which is very companionship led, I quickly realised I would be fantastic at it. I love my clients and I have made some wonderful friendships & gained a new family! My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner".
Who will I support?
You will be carefully matched and introduced to the person you will be supporting, and you will share a great relationship together. Your visits will never be rushed, and they are never less than an hour, meaning you spend quality time with the person we match you with. Because you get to know one another well, the care that you would provide is never awkward, just natural.
Key Information
* GBP10.95 to GBP11.45 per hour, plus mileage & Paid Travel Time.
* Award Winning Assessment & Induction Programme.
* Flexible, Part-Time Hours.
* Early Mornings, Lunchtimes & Evenings are our busy times.
* Alternative Weekend working.
* We welcome applications from all age groups (No upper Limit) and previous occupations.
