An exciting new opportunity has become available for a Supply Chain Manager to join the Supply Team at our Uttoxeter bakery site.

The Supply Chain Manager will be part of the Senior Management Team on site and manage the Production Planning, Scheduling and Material Call Off teams with responsibility for the conversion of the monthly demand forecast into an efficient Master Production Schedule (MPS). They will work cross functionally with key departments and have overall responsibility for all operational, financial & legislative elements of the Elkes distribution operation and Customer Services. Distribution operation includes 3rd party storage, site despatch, fleet including drivers and 3rd party transport providers. Storage includes finished goods and packaging and the role is also responsible for timely clearance of bakery. The Customer Services function includes custodianship of the business customer service & ascertaining customer strategic requirements as well as order receipt & processing responsibilities. They will be responsible for procurement and management of packaging and ingredients to ensure stock levels are maintained at an optimal level.

The successful candidate will have worked in a similar position previously with an FMCG environment and have excellent business partnering skills. They will be a CPC license holder and have experience of managing 3rd party logistics and suppler management.

In the early 1900s Samuel Elkes opened a confectionery shop in Uttoxeter and in 1928 a purpose built biscuit factory was opened on the current site. In 1986 the company was bought by Northern Foods and was run as Elkes Biscuits, later becoming Fox's Biscuits and returning to Elkes Biscuits within 2 Sisters Food Group.

Uttoxeter is known for the biscuit barrel and is the home of the Malted Milk biscuits along with producing Ginger biscuits, Farley's Rusks, Custard Creams, Chocolate Digestive Bars, Oaties and Digestives. The site provides retailer own label biscuits to all the major retailers including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury's, Aldi and Lidl.

The factory, employing around 580 employees, is well established within the community and has a fantastic culture of team work, internal progression and recognition.

This is where you come in???

The Supply Chain Manager will ensure the Logistics operation is carried out within the agreed budgets and preferably with associated savings on a cost per case/pallet basis. They will ensure that the Planning and Logistics functions interact with each other and with other internal functions to ensure an optimal level of customer service.

They will be responsible for the planning, scheduling and material call off processes including leadership of meetings, actions and improvements. They will ensure that all company H&S and legislative policies are carried out and that H&S is the primary consideration in all areas of Logistics activity.

The Supply Chain Manager will manage all third-party providers including warehousing and transport providers ensuring KPIs are established and delivered and regular reviews to drive performance are in place. They will also ensure achievable and cost-effective production plans are produced to balance factory efficiency, finished goods and WIP stocks and working within capital targets.

Together with Commercial and Customers, they will build effective demand plans and own the short-term plan used for driving production planning and raw material demand. They will build strong relationship with customer supply chain teams and seek and deliver opportunities for efficiency gains.

About you

* Strong analytical, interpersonal and influencing skills

* A national CPC is a pre-requisite

* Experience of SAP or a similar ERP system

* Excellent IT skills

* Excellent Stakeholder and Influencing skills

* The ability to be resilient, to challenge, to remain calm under pressure and to work at pace

* A valid full driving licence

* The job holder must keep themselves at the forefront of developments in retailer requirements and will be expected to play a critical role in ensuring customer needs are achieved at minimum on cost

* Experience of delivering significant logistics improvements whilst maintaining KPIs

* Experience of managing and negotiating with third party logistics providers is essential
