An exciting position is now available for full time Chef/Cook based in Wishaw. The successful candidate will earn GBP10.45 per hour. Hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week to be worked on a flexible basis Mon-Fri. can include Saturdays and some evenings as required. Requests for part time hours can be considered.

This is an exciting role in a new venture with an opportunity to bring your ideas to life within a new caf?? environment. You will also bring creative and innovative ideas to help support the aims of the caf??.

You will have a passion for and extensive experience of food and cooking and take pride in producing wholesome quality food at affordable prices.

You will be dynamic and energetic with an enthusiasm for working with others in a helpful and productive manner.

Role Requirements

Essential

Managing a commercial kitchen to produce good quality food at market prices
Ability to work on own as well as ability to run a team of staff and volunteers
Accountability across all areas of food quality, food safety, people care and management
Desirable

Current food safety certificate
Experience of working with volunteers/trainees
Understanding of the local community
Role Responsibilities (not limited to)

Overall day to day running of the kitchen
Creation of menu
Procurement with suppliers
Recruitment, training and development of staff and volunteers
Support and develop the cooking skills of staff and volunteers
Rota management of staff and volunteers
Co-ordinate daily activities of kitchen staff and kitchen volunteers
Establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance systems within kitchen
Responsibility for inputting systems, procedures and record keeping that support the running of the kitchen in line with food safety standards, environmental health and health and safety regulations, including any COVID-19 related guidelines/procedures. Liaising with any statutory or regulatory bodies in relation to aforementioned
Controlling and managing costs via efficient stock ordering, rotation, usage and wastage
Contributing to a pricing strategy to ensure sufficient margins are being made on food
Organising and contributing to food led events
Contribute to marketing strategy to enhance the caf??'s offerings to local community
To maintain positive working relationships with other staff, volunteers and external agencies
To attend and contribute to team meetings

Our client is a charitable company who have been delivering community based mental health services since 1983 and is now embarking on this exciting new venture.

A new opportunity has risen to work in a welcoming caf?? where people will be able to purchase affordable wholesome food in a relaxing environment. The building will also be a wellbeing centre that will host and support a range of wellbeing activities to help enhance the lives of people in the local area. We are due to open in June.

There will be regular events where people can get together to do some activities based around food and/or wellbeing activities.

The organisation plan to utilise the 'Pay it Forward' scheme to support those who are in a need of a meal/drink.
