Online People are looking for Catering Assistants for a Permanent role to work Part Time within the NHS , 9 Hours a week in Fordingbridge .

The Catering Assistant is responsible for the provision of a food and beverage service in accordance with health and safety requirements.

Duties include, but are not limited to, food preparation, cooking, serving and presentation, cleaning of crockery, cutlery and equipment, rotation of stock, maintenance of food hygiene regulations and cash handling.

Key duties and responsibilities of the role

Responsible for the provision of a food and beverage service, ensuring customers are served promptly, courteously and efficiently.

Key result areas

1. Prepare all food/beverages as necessary in accordance with menus, portion control and agreed standards.

2. Ensure organisation health and safety policies and procedures and all relevant food safety legislation is complied with.

3. Undertake and record temperature checks and ensure high standards of food hygiene are maintained.

4. Ensure that the correct cycle of delivery, storage, stock rotation and display is followed including for crockery and cutlery.

5. If required, prepare all necessary items for hospitality requests for collection or delivery at specified times.

6. Carry out all appropriate cleaning duties in the kitchen, dining facility and all other areas within the catering departments responsibility and operate a 'clean as you go' policy in any tasks you undertake.

7. Responsible for following policies, procedures and departmental guidelines on catering and cleaning and to make comments, suggestions to improve the service we provide.

8. Ensure financial and cash handling procedures are complied with.

9. Operate equipment in a safe manner complying with policies and procedures in line with training, reporting faulty and hazardous equipment through the correct channel and maintain equipment in a clean and safe manner.

10. Be familiar with any rota and be available for work as required.

11. Clean all crockery, cutlery, utensils, etc. as prescribed by the daily workload.

12. Ensure all utensils, stores and cleaning materials are stored in a secure and safe manner.

13. Consistently and actively apply good housekeeping principles such as turning off lights and equipment when not in use in order to contribute to our strategy to reduce utility consumption and carbon footprint.

14. Participate as a full member of the team, eg. supporting/training other staff, participating in team meetings, working flexibly as required to cover other members of the team.

15. Ensure that all equipment and materials are used and stored safely in compliance with COSHH.

16. Support new and inexperienced members of staff to be familiar with local environment policies and procedures.

17. Accept deliveries (collection/storage and distribution) of the received items to catering department and wards ensuring safe and secure storage of all goods and maintenance of delivery records.
