We are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team at a supportive and dynamic Special Education Needs school in Birmingham. The school needs a Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 supporting a reception aged child with ASD. The Teaching Assistant will be there to support and encourage inclusion and independence. The role is to start as soon as possible initially to work mornings only on a long-term basis, this role could be made permanent and full time for the right candidate.

The school is a co-educational primary school, which helps educate and support children aged between 4 - 11. The school is a Catholic Primary School that has a large and well-equipped SEND department. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum that is based on the aim of developing confident, independent pupils, high in self-esteem, with meaningful skills and a clear understanding of their place in the world. Their curriculum is creative, fun and full of interesting and vibrant learning experiences for all of their pupils.

About the Role:

The successful Teaching Assistant will have experience supporting a wide range of subjects and abilities. They will be able to effectively promote inclusion ensuring pupils make good progress from their starting points. As a Teaching Assistant you must also have experience working with children with ASD and working on a 1:1 basis to promote inclusion and raise attainment.

We are looking for an exemplary teaching assistant who has high expectations of self and others and is passionate about encouraging all pupils to achieve success and have accessible learning. We want someone with excellent classroom skills, who supports with an enthusiastic and nurturing approach and has high expectations of learning. You will have successful experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant and of working with children with challenging behaviour either because of ASD or SEMH needs. Ideally, as well as being a SEN Teaching Assistant you would be able to contribute to the wider curriculum of the school through sports, arts, music, drama, and other enrichment activities. Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:

* Secure a high quality of support, effective use of resources and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the teaching staff, and school leaders.

* Support a range of subjects as necessary to KS1 - KS2 classes to ensure the effective delivery of the school's curriculum.

* Support and encourage children into achieving the best results they can.

* In consultation with the Head of School undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school's curriculum.
