Reserve Manager / Administrator

Starting salary: £22,000 - £27,000 (based on experience)

Work Location: Remotely initially, then base at The Reserve Centre Kenfig CF33 4PT
Hours per week: 20 - 37 hours

Please note a degree of flexibility is required, as they may be occasional evening or weekend work. Flexible working options available / open to discussion

About Us

Kenfig Corporation Trust are investing in the conservation of the Dunes over the next 10 years ensuring we continue to care for one of the country’s finest Dunes, as part of this we are developing new ways of working to ensure we look after the reserve effectively and efficiently.

Kenfig Dunes has an extremely rich and varied heritage including 1650 acres of land, this incredible legacy will be enhanced through the newly agreed development plan with Natural Resources for Wales.

We want our Reserve managed to support best practice in land management, maximising conservation benefits for the wide variety of species and habitats, integrating the reserve into larger ecological networks.

About the role

This is a key role within Trust, being part of the Management Team, driving forward the development of the Reserve. The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with the motivation, initiative and leadership skills to support a conservation team. If you have lots of ideas, energy and drive then this role could be for you.

The role will need to balance managing the Reserve team, ensuring professional oversight of the Reserve and Reserve’s volunteers, providing advice and support to Reserves Trustees and other colleagues. This will be a busy and varied role so were looking for someone who pays close attention to the detail, whilst being able to make balanced decisions, take a proactive approach to problem solving and not being afraid to get stuck in to complete the task.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience of working in Public Sector, Business, customer service and / or visitor attraction environment.

  • Highly organised, with the ability to plan to time and budget,

  • Experience of management, coaching and mentoring professional staff, ensuring the quality and output of a team.

  • Have an enthusiasm for technology and innovation with an awareness of recent tech developments.

  • Strong communicator who can influence, inspire and to negotiate well.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the Reserve is managed to demonstrate best practice and to maximise conservation benefits.

  • Support the management of internal and external relationships of the Trust effectively, including volunteers, Land Agent & solicitors.

  • Work as part of the Reserve centre management team, providing support to colleagues as required.

  • Being part of the welcome and service team rota, including opening and closing the property.

  • Helping shape our new operational model.

  • Assisting with marketing our places by creating inspiring posts on social media. Writing articles for our webpages and writing press releases.

  • Manage the compliance and risk management relating to facilities management.

  • Daily administration of Health and Safety, CDM regulations, Emergency Procedures, Fire and Security procedures and legislation.

  • Provide Administration support for the business including taking minutes, organising meetings, filling, paying invoices and being the point of contact for the business.

  • Keep the Charity Commission information up to date, including website updates.

  • Ensure utilities and insurance are managed and paid.

  • Manage salaries and Bank accounts with HRT Finance management.
