Junior NPD Food Technologist. Do you have a degree or qualifications in either Food Technology, Nutrition or Food Science and are you seeking to develop your career in the food industry. Do you have previous NPD experience and are looking for a change? I am currently recruiting for an NPD Food Technologist to join an historic family-run Food Manufacturer who work globally with major retailers and distributors.
The NPD Food Technologist will be responsible for the whole NPD process from identifying a potential new product, through kitchen and factory trials, shelf-life testing and costing, to the creation of the product specification and packaging development as well as marketing. The successful applicant will either have experience or qualifications relating to the food production environment or preferably direct experience or qualifications relating to new product development.
The NPD Food Technologist will provide assistance regarding the identification of emerging trends and the generation of prospective NPD projects. You will be presented with various problems such as gaps in the product portfolio and you will then be required to fill those gaps. You will have a passion for food technology and innovate find new flavours and new formats that will ignite retail sales in the UK and internationally. This is a hands-on role.
The ideal candidate will be used to a regulated environment ideally in the Food Production sector as our client is subject to stringent protocols. You will work collaboratively on food production and QA as part of a small sales team. You must be able to handle the pressure of deadlines as often projects have to be turned around very quickly in order satisfy customer demands. The successful applicant will have a good deal of enthusiasm as well as common sense.
Required skills:
- Experience or qualifications relating to the food production environment
- Someone from a regulated industry environment is preferred.
- Strong documentation writing and problem-solving skills
- Strong client facing or customer service skills
- Driving licence is essential
