We are The Forward Trust (formerly RAPt and Blue Sky), the social enterprise with charitable status that empowers people to break the often interlinked cycles of crime and addiction to move forward with their lives.

We are now moving into an exciting new phase of our ambitious awareness-raising campaign, More Than My Past, which aims to change public perception of crime and addiction by showcasing real life stories of a broad range of people who have successfully turned their lives around.

Role Responsibilities - Communications Manager (Maternity Cover):

Managing all aspects of our communications including PR and media relations, public affairs, social media, brand and creative services, marketing and promotion, internal communications and employee engagement and digital transformation
Leading and supporting the Communications team to devise and implement marketing and communications strategies for external and internal audiences
Building further levels of engagement via external, internal and digital channels for the new phase of our More Than My Past campaign
Managing delivery plans for each area of Marketing and Communications
Ensuring engaging and effective content suitable for our channels and audiences
Leading on the engagement of a number of key stakeholders (such as journalists, MPs, commissioners, employees, prison governors) through excellent communications, including visits to see our work in action
Enforcing successful Client Advocacy by developing an approach to working with current and former clients to carry out advocacy, media and fundraising activity in support of our plans and strategy
Line managing the Communications Officer
Supporting the implementation of both crisis and event management

What we are looking for?

Relevant experience as Communications Manager, managing a team to successfully deliver company objectives
Experience in successfully managing external communications of an organisation
Proven ability to devise and deliver communications strategy and plans, and monitoring and evaluating their success
Excellent organisational and planning skills, with a positive and proactive attitude
Previous success in developing effective messages, content and materials for a variety of external audiences
Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills
Good knowledge of Microsoft office packages
Proven ability to build strong relationships with external stakeholders
