Claims Handler, oldham
The Job
Responsible for providing technical support to Team Members handling property claims, to ensure that claims are handled in line with service delivery and company and client requirements at all times.
Providing advice and guidance to Claim Handlers, ensuring that:
* technical decisions are undertaken accurately and effectively in respect of policy liability
* legislative and property damage industry best practice and protocols are met;
* Provide technical assistance on property claims where required
* To effectively manage the performance of the property restoration supply chain
* Provide constructive information to contractors to enable them to respond in line with our requirements
* Support Claims Handlers to assist with meeting deadlines, liaising with approved contractors and clients regarding the approval of schedules and estimates whilst ensuring that KPI's are met on all claims handled
* Endeavour to constantly improve processes and procedures
* Respond to ad-hoc requests from the Team.
* Liaise with clients when required
* Personally, handle complex claims from claim notification through to settlement whilst demonstrating a proactive approach
* Ensuring all claims are handled within the appropriate timescales & in accordance with client KPI's and SLA's
* Gather and process information to support the effective assessment of claims, including assisting other claims handlers in the effective gathering of information
* Using practical technical property knowledge to review and interpret site specific date, information and images to make decisions on policy liability, approve estimates and scopes of work, repudiate claims, amend scopes of work and challenge contractors reports and estimates
* Working with contractors to find the most effective solutions to practical property damage issues
* To create accurate and presentable reports for submission to insurers for consideration of policy liability issues
* To liaise with contractors in respect of best methods of scheduling and completing works on site
* To update and maintain industry knowledge for practical application
* Dealing with incoming enquiries from clients, insurers and other third parties in a professional and timely manner
* Ensure full compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 at all times.
* To act as a contributing member of the team and undertake such other duties as reasonably required
Essential Knowledge & Skills
* Cert CII qualified or equivalent
* Strong working knowledge of legislation, insurance industry best practice and protocols relating to property damage claims
* Strong interpersonal skills and able to communicate, both verbal and written at all levels within the organisation
* Capable of working under own initiative and without supervision
* Numerate and methodical with a keen eye for detail
* A proactive self-starter and demonstrate a can-do attitude
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and schedules
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook
