The Role:
I'm currently working on behalf of a well known Power Generation client, actively sourcing a Finance Specialist (General Accounting) to join their expanding finance team in Stone Staffordshire on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will be Supporting the overall financial statement preparation by executing accurate and timely completion of accounting activities in compliance with internal guidelines, procedures and external regulatory requirements

Main Accountabilities - Responsibilities, Tasks & Interactions:

Accountabilities:
- Accounting - Performs general accounting activities including daily cash transactions and bank reconciliations for both UK and Ireland businesses. Providing VAT support to ensure returns are submitted on time, populating intrastat submissions. Ensures accurate entry of accounting bookings and working to month end deadlines.
- Analysis - Executes accounting analyses and reports as assigned for general ledger and tax.
- Reporting - Ensures the production of reports, statement of accounts, reconciliations, statements of sourcing, and application of funds in a timely manner.
- Financial transactions - Applies accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions.
- Optimization - Assists in developing and implementing processes and procedures, and continuously optimizes to gain efficiency and drive productivity gains.
- Internal controls - Participates in internal control testing and prepares relevant documentation.
- Risk assessment - Supports management with financial aspects of project funding and risk assessment

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Excel Skills - Intermediate or above
- Part or Fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/Other UK recognized accounting accreditation)
- Experience of ERP FI module in SAP
- Experience of company VAT and intrastate returns
- Experience in balance sheet reconciliations particularly bank accounts.
- Self-motivated
- Flexible approach to working hours during peak reporting timelines

- Previous experience of developing and implementing processes and procedures
