The Labels Division is involved in the design and printing of high quality self-adhesive and resealable labels. It is a GBP20m turnover business with over 100 employees located across 3 sites: Scotland (Kilmarnock), Ireland & Sweden. The business manufactures and sells to major FMCG companies in the UK, Europe & North America.Macfarlane Group is a listed Packaging Group on the London Stock Exchange. It has over 900 employees across 25 sites (mainly in the UK) with GBP200m+ pa turnover.The Management Accountant OpportunityWe are looking for an enthusiastic individual to fill the key role of Management Accountant within the Finance team, based in Kilmarnock. This important appointment will support the Finance Director in many areas of the finance function. The main responsibilities of the role will be:
Preparation of the monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliation packs, fully utilising the Labels ERP system.
Line management of a small team within Finance.
VAT/Intrastat/Customs compliance in both the UK and Ireland.
Responsibility for payroll procedures in the UK and Ireland.
Supporting the FD during forecasting and budgeting cycles.
Management Accountant Key Responsibilities
•Monthly accounts process
oPreparation of month-end accounts for UK and Ireland entities, including revenue and cost accruals, intercompany balances and control account reconciliations
oOngoing management of stock balances and the fixed asset register
oAssist with year-end external audit and statutory accounts preparation
•Ensure adherence to all financial controls and procedures, including internal audit requirements
•Key user of the Labels ERP system, including the integrated reporting suite, particularly to drive efficiencies and process improvements across the division
•Compliance with statutory reporting requirements: VAT Returns, Intrastat & other regulatory submissions (UK and Ireland)
•Payroll
oReview and approval of fortnightly payroll in UK and Ireland
oProcessing monthly payroll
oYear-end pay and benefits reporting
oPension administration including reporting & compliance
•Input to and development of the Labels forecasting & budgeting processes
•Administrative responsibilities for company cars, office equipment, H&S, etc
Do you have the correct profile?
You will ideally be able to demonstrate success of having worked within a similar management accountant capacity, that will have provided exposure to most of the responsibilities listed above. You will also ideally have the following skills and experience???
•Ability to work independently and proactively.
•Strong analytical skills, including excellent Excel skills.
•Good communication and interpersonal skills.
•Willingness to learn and challenge the status quo with new ideas.
•Experience in customs and export trade an advantage.
•CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification. Part-qualified candidates with relevant work experience also acceptable.
•Specific industry experience is not required, although an understanding of the manufacturing sector may be an advantage.
