Lead GIS Developer - Permanent - Exeter - GBP50-60k salary

This is a national highways and infrastructure organisation with a site based in Exeter.

Your new role
As a Lead Developer within the GIS department your main duties will be based around:

• the continued development of bespoke applications using Ruby and other development languages and automations and use ESRI ArcGIS Applications, Tools and Websites
• managing the Development and Automations team and assist the Head of department develop and implement the business strategy
• providing analysis and processing of data from all areas of the business and display outcomes in meaningful and understandable ways, such as on maps, graphs, charts and spreadsheets
• undertaking Project work as directed by Head of GIS & Client Digital Solutions

What you'll need to succeed
You will need:

• a High level of IT competency
• experience with all Microsoft Office packages and the use of complex databases and spreadsheets
• experience in Ruby and/or other Object Orientated programming languages, Full Stack knowledge, PHP and JavaScript development experience
• experience using AutoCAD and/or ESRI ArcGIS (preferable)
• You should also be able to demonstrate your ability to work with MS SQL or POSTGRES, your experience of two-way API integrations (REST, SOAP and XML), experience with Azure, AWS or Google cloud hosting, and understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Ideally, you'll also have experience in working with large and complex estates of Servers and services, and knowledge of continuous integration.
