Assistant Buyer
Location: Fowlmere, Cambridgeshire
Salary: Competitive, DOE
Contract: Permanent, Full time
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm
Short Description:
A brand-new position has opened within our purchasing department supporting Ion Science Ltd and reporting to the Company Buyer. This is a varied and key role supporting the Company Buyer in the day-to-day purchase of goods, materials and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.
This role is ideal for anyone seeking a career in purchasing with or without proven experience. Key qualities in a successful candidate would be to hold a 'can do' attitude, willingness to learn and a clear advocate of our company values and employee friendly ethos.
Assistant Buyer - The Role:
The Role will report to the Company Buyer and will involve the following:
• Raising of repeat and ad-hoc purchase orders to support production requirements
• Purchasing other items as required e.g. marketing items, stationery items, equipment etc.
• Receipting order confirmations and checking off against purchase orders, keeping internal system up-to-date
• Expediting outstanding deliveries with suppliers and order progress reporting
• Updating supplier database as required, ensure that new suppliers are recorded and registered
• Answering enquiries from suppliers and internal team as required
• Answering purchasing emails
• Identifying and researching potential new suppliers, undertaking due diligence of suppliers
• Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications
• compliance to company guidelines and to purchasing policies & procedures in all activities
• Support in reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs)
Assistant Buyer - The Person:
This is a hands-on role and the person appointed will be:
• Strong administration skills
• Experience of business software such as Microsoft Office
• Excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• The flexibility and willingness to learn
• Ability to build collaborative working relationships
• The ability to work as part of a team
• The ability to work accurately, with attention to detail
• Experience of purchasing in a manufacturing environment is not essential but would be advantageous
