You will be responsible for the delivery of all procurement-based requirements across the Skipton site, overseeing direct and indirect spend and supplier relationships from end to end.

You will take a proactive approach in reviewing current systems and procedures, making recommendations and implementing changes. You will be responsible for the management of quality suppliers of materials, components and contract manufacturing services covering innovation, price, delivery and quality targets.

We are a make-to-stock organisation, as such, good management of work in progress stock items and end item stock is critical to meeting our working capital targets and you will work closely with the Operations Director to achieve this.

The role also has a clear project focus, supporting the Operations Manager at a strategic level to help achieve objectives required to aid production of existing products and working closely with R&D on new product development.

Responsibilities:

* Based on customer/sales forecast, work closely with Production Department to schedule production workloads to ensure stock is manufactured on time in order to fulfil customer demand. "

* Continually monitor and review materials held on site to ensure business is holding sufficient stocks on site to meet production demands whilst working closely with Finance to manage cashflow levels.

* Deliver and manage improvements on COGS reduction, P&L and supply chain optimisation within the business by continually reviewing purchasing methods to drive effective supply, cost control and timeline compliance.

* Liaise with suppliers to ensure stability of the supply chain, develop & implement risk management processes to ensure no risk of supply and increase overall supply chain agility.

* Engage & develop continuous supply chain improvement practices to support the continued focus on delivering improved value and service levels.

* Manage and negotiate procurement terms, conditions and pricing as necessary with suppliers to ensure parts and materials are bought at the most competitive prices and delivered on time for production.

* Responsible for planning, placing and expediting of orders within required timelines to ensure business holds sufficient stocks to meet production demand.

* Setup and utilise MRP software effectively to analyse recommended purchase orders and production works orders and schedule accordingly.

* Work closely and partner with all of the Company's suppliers to develop business relationships that deliver effective operational control to agreed service levels and supplier performance. On occasion, this may necessitate the need to travel to supplier's site.

* Foster close working relationships with associated departments eg. Sales, Quality, Production and Business Development to understand their forecasting demands to ensure timely delivery of business projects.

* Actively contribute to the enhancement of compliance initiatives for areas of responsibility.

* Drive continuous improvement strategies to maximise efficiencies and minimise waste across the site.

* Setup processes and systems to maintain supplier master data in accordance with legal and regulatory compliance.

* Prepare reports and updates as and when required.

* Adhere to any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors

New Products/ Product Developments

* Support R&D, Commercial and Marketing on the evaluation of new and existing materials and their successful integration into the production end of the business

Experience:

* Minimum 5 years procurement experience within a medical device background.

* Demonstrated experience in Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II).

* CIPS or other professional purchasing qualification.

* Demonstrated experience in managing & developing supplier relationships including contract negotiation.

* Knowledge of SAP Business One system or similar database system.

* Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience would be beneficial but not essential
