As a result, we are looking to recruit an ICT Engineer (LAT) on a 24-month Fixed Term Contract to work within the Information and Communications Technology Department.
ICT Intro
The Information and Communications Technology Department (ICT) has primary responsibility for service technical infrastructure and support. ICT has staff at a number of locations throughout the Organisation. The key functions of ICT are to provide and support such systems required by the staff of Public Health England (PHE), and to provide the technical infrastructure to enable all forms of corporate communication, both within the Organisation and between the Organisation and its customers and stakeholders.

Job Summary
ICT Engineer's will work within a specified geographical area to provide technical expertise in the configuration and implementation of PCs and PC networks within the PHE systems environment. This role will be the principle point of contact with PHE users to provide the support, guidance and advice to allow users to work on the PHE network without disruption.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
*To assist the Lead Engineers in providing a high quality of customer service and support that will ensure that all PHE staff are able to access PHE ICT services as required.
*Ensure that all PHE users in their local area receive a consistent level of support, working within agreed service levels as necessary.
*Configuring and commissioning PC hardware and software as required.
*Providing administration and technical support for server machines, particularly local Domain Controllers, and for network management software including support for all networked services.
*Administration of user accounts for network access, including creation of accounts, modification of user permissions, and removal of accounts of staff leaving the Agency
*Ensuring compliance with PHE ICT Security Policies in all PC and LAN usage in PHE including, where necessary, installing and maintaining up-to-date PHE-standard virus protection software on all PCs and server machines
*Ensuring the provision of support and service to all customers during scheduled hours
Essential Skills
*Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
*Substantive experience in a technical support role, supporting PC hardware and software and PC networks
*Experience/Knowledge of:
ohardware configuration and LAN connectivity
oPC and LAN hardware devices
oNetworking protocols, particularly TCP/IP
oEthernet
oMicrosoft operating systems and network software
oMicrosoft application software
oevaluating and measuring the performance of IT systems
*Evidence of excellent customer service skills and a commitment to improving services.
*Ability to analyse and interpret information, pre-empt and evaluate issues
*Intermediate keyboard skills

*Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check.
*People working with government assets must complete basic personnel security standard checks.
