Senior NPI Engineer
Glenrothes
Summary of Role:
Provide technical and project management skills to ensure that New Products are introduced into manufacturing in a timely, efficient, cost effective and accurate manner. The NPI engineering role will report directly to the NPI manager and will have had significant experience within a high reliability electronics manufacturing environment e.g. Military Electronics.
Some travel may be required.
Main Duties:
Responsible for front-end engineering and completion of New Product Introduction (NPI) using the company standard processes and procedures, highlighting DFM and production capability issues as appropriate.
Will be required to provide NPI labour, Tooling and Other Direct Costs for RFP's supported with detailed Basis of Estimates
Excellent financial acumen and understanding of manufacturing cost drivers
To design, develop, procure & commission tooling, equipment and production systems to facilitate the introduction of new, transferred and modified products into manufacturing.
To create and maintain appropriate documentation such as Technical reports, Work Instructions, Routings, and Specifications etc.
To organise pre-production runs and support trial builds as required by the project schedule.
To prepare for and participate in Product Design Reviews and Production Readiness Reviews.
To conduct Process FMEA's and appropriate Risk Assessments to ensure and demonstrate full compliance to customer's specification and requirements.
Delegation of work outside of their core skill-set to other members of the Engineering team, working closely with other Engineers, and ensuring delegated work is completed in a timely manner.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
Degree in an Engineering science e.g. Electrical and Electronic Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/Physics/ Industrial engineering
Desirable:
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the transfer of products from design through to the end user with detailed knowledge of the following; ???Have a working knowledge of relevant standards e.g. ANSI J Class 3, Mil std 810 etc
Proven Technical specialist on key electronic manufacturing processes e.g. surface mount, Assembly, conformal Coating etc
Strong attention to details, highly organised, computer literate
Strong analytical and problem solving skills to analyse and resolve technical issues quickly and independently
Clear knowledge of, and commitment to, World Class Manufacturing standards
Skills
PC literate mainly Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & MS Project.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts and statistical inference, SPC, DOE, queuing theory, Six Sigma, etc.
Use of lean tools including value stream mapping, etc.
Ability to represent Raytheon at all levels both internal and externally.
Strong understanding of the key cost drivers in the set-up, development or support of projects, products and the manufacturing process.

Strong written and verbal communication skills
