St Ives Town Council is a small but independently minded local council in West Cornwall.  Ambitious for the future with a strong vision for delivering services locally, we are looking to grow our team with a new post of Cultural Services Manager. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for community culture, arts and heritage, willing to shape the service for the future.

You will have overall management of the recently combined library and busy visitor information centre and shop.  Your role will be to energise the space in the heart of the town and find new ways to increase footfall and revenue and develop the building’s role as a creative hub. In addition to the small team, you will manage a venues manager (overseeing their recruitment) and the delivery of an exciting project to re-vitalise our historic concert hall as a live performance venue. You will make greater use of the Council’s community assets and spaces and develop stronger links with the thriving local cultural and heritage sector.

Strategic thinking combined with the day-to-day know-how

You will be a talented and enthusiastic individual with a track record of working in a busy visitor, arts, heritage or charity setting. A self-starter who has the ability to combine managing a community building with commercial acumen to deliver income growth.

You will be responsible for delivering an excellent day-to-day management of the service and promoting activities and events which inspire local people to get involved.

You will have people management experience and will enjoy supporting a team to succeed and deliver, while also playing a key role in the Council’s management team to modernise our processes and ways of working.

The Council recognise the scale of its ambition and offer a competitive salary and an enriching work environment with friendly staff and elected members. The role is full time (37 hours per week) and involves evening working.

St Ives is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from anyone meeting our person specification.

Interviews will be held during the week commencing 15th February 2021.
