My client's International Trade team is looking for an additional International Trade Adviser (EU Transition) to successfully deliver the Department of International Trade and ERDF funded 'Export for Growth' contracts, working with SMEs and MSBs across the Yorkshire and Humber region (Home based / remote role).

As EU Transition Advisor you will know the "nuts and bolts" of exporting - from the vital paperwork, to the processes and technical aspects, rather than having strategic exporting experience.

You will be responsible for the provision of information, advice and guidance on:

- obtaining an EORI number

- tariff codes and application of tariffs applicable to goods

- rules of origin / Free Trade Agreements

- changes in labelling and packaging of goods

- requirements, restrictions and trade remedies

- licensing; Incoterms; VAT

- customs declarations; customs procedures

- intellectual property and; trade barriers.

You will work as part of a designated team of International Business Advisors, collating, integrating and communicating information relating to EU transition, to businesses across the Yorkshire and Humber region.

You will play a key role in encouraging businesses both experienced and novice to consider the impact and innovations needed as a result of EU exit.

As EU Transition Advisor, you will engage with businesses across the region, raising awareness of the implementing actions required to trade successfully following the end of the Transition Period and provide them with 1:1 practical support and guidance on what they need to do to respond to, the end of the EU Transition period.

Key Responsibilities:

The EU Transition Advisor is expected to work alongside key local partners in the business support environment such as Local Enterprise Partnerships, Growth Hubs and Chambers of Commerce to coordinate and share EU Transition information:

* Work with businesses to collate feedback and analyse their needs on both an inbound and outbound basis

* Provide EU transition preparation guidance to existing clients, helping drive an increase in their international online sales. Overall providing advice of significant assistance to the company with a high level of customer satisfaction

* The adviser may be asked to direct, lead or support local or national EU transition awareness seminars and/or workshops as agreed with DIT

* Present at and support events as agreed with Team Leader

* Provide ITAs with high-quality EU Transition and FTA guidance

* Interact with International Trade Advisors who hold the relationship responsibility with each client company at the local level

About You:

* Practical private sector/ commercial and/or international trade advisory experience, in more than one international market - 5 years minimum, preferably in a senior role

* Business awareness - company finance and structure; experience in the mechanics of exporting

* Degree/Diploma level business related and/or international trade qualification

* Knowledge of developing new business opportunities

* Sound awareness of international and UK business issue

Skills Required:

* Sound general knowledge of international trade including the mechanics of exporting

* The Adviser will require excellent communication and collaboration skills

* Able to relate to people at all levels. Influencing skills

* Able to conduct specific research for companies and assist them in this process as required

* Excellent organisational skills, high-level presentational skills

* Strong and evidence experienced project management ability and ability to work with financial information with major SME companies

****This is an EU funded fixed-term contract until 31st March 2021, and is a home-based / remote role, working with SMEs across the Yorkshire and Humber region.
