Governance and Compliance Officer

Salary: Grade 6 (£24,982 to £27,041 FTE) £13,503 to £14,616 (actual pro rata)

Location: Oldland Common, Bristol

Contract: 20 hours per week (hours flexible), all year round

Term: Permanent

Wellsway Multi Academy Trust runs thirteen schools in Bristol and Bath, across all age groups and including a special school, with its head office in Oldland Common, Bristol.

A vacancy has arisen for a Governance and Compliance Officer within our Trust central office.  The post holder will become the Trust’s governance expert and will ensure that the Trust’s governance framework is coherent and compliant in all respects.   He or she will provide support in the management of risk and ensure that the Trust is compliant with its regulatory and statutory obligations. 

The post holder will also be required to co-ordinate a professional Academy Governance Committee (AGC) clerking team including recruitment, induction, training, support and quality assurance, to ensure consistency of practice and effective working.

This is a new role and may suit someone with previous experience as a clerk or company secretary, wanting to bring their experience to a new setting.  For an informal discussion about the role please email Tim Howes at so that a telephone call can be arranged. The role will be based within the Trust’s central office however a level of home working may be required.
