Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire (BGSW) Probation Services is part of the KSS CRC Probation. We provide a broad range of probation services for adult offenders on community orders or licenses. We focus on quality of practice to reduce re-offending, improve the safety of the communities we serve and improve the life chances of those within the Dorset, Devon and Cornwall (DDC) criminal justice system.

KSS CRC (Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company) are a leading provider of rehabilitation services for people who have been sentenced by a court to either custody or community supervision. As a high performing CRC we deliver a range of services designed to stop re-offending and prevent the harm caused to communities by crime. Our approach places our servicer users at the heart of their rehabilitation journey.

Our dedicated and established Programmes Team is responsible for delivering a suite of accredited HMPPS Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) programmes which meet the needs of our service users. The programmes cover topics such as domestic abuse, anger management, thinking skills, substance misuse and challenging behaviour.

Our Programme Facilitators deliver a range of group work programmes and courses aimed at supporting individuals to change negative behaviours and patterns of thinking. This excellent opportunity involves working with low, medium and high risk service users. There will be some 1:1 work but most of the work is carried out in a group setting. You will be given full training as part of the role and become qualified to deliver cognitive behavioral groups.

Please note the majority of programmes are run during the evening on weekdays (until 10pm) and on Saturday mornings. You would work 37 hours a week adjusted to meet the demands of our delivery schedule.

Key Responsibilities

* Train and deliver group work programmes

* Participate in the preparation and planning of programmes

* Provide post programme reports on service users' progress

* Provide guidance on service users' suitability to undertake a group work programme.

* Contribute to the review of programmes including content and the skills required to deliver these programmes.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates with:

* A background in running groups / facilitation / group counselling or a high level of domestic abuse awareness.

* Ability to work effectively, cooperatively and flexibly with others both on a 1:1 basis and as part of a team.

* Ability to work effectively with a co-worker to deliver programmes

* Ability to maintain an adequate level of discipline and control so that learning can take place within the group.

* Ability and willingness to challenge other people, including service users inappropriate behaviour appropriately.

The Ideal candidate will be experienced in:

* Running Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programmes or General Offending Behaviour Programmes

* Experience of teaching/training/tutoring groups

Base Salary: GBP22,924 per annum plus unsocial hours pay enhancements - Saturdays premium payment of 50% and evening working premium payment of 30%.

For example If the working pattern included four evenings per week the starting salary would be GBP25,154 per annum.

Hours: This is a full time role, there is an expectation that operational staff work regular weekday evenings (until 10pm) and on Saturdays to support service users without jeopardising their employment.
