Selwyn is recruiting for a Porter to join our busy and friendly team of Porters. 

Porter
Salary: £21,088 per annum. Plus 15% enhancement for all night duties worked.
Hours: 13 x 12.5 hour shifts in every 30 day period, according to the prevailing roster.
Contract Type: Permanent, full-time. Subject to six months’ probation.

The Porters’ Lodge is staffed 24 hours a day and 365 days of the year.  Flexibility will be required to work a variety of shift patterns, which will include weekends, day shifts, night shifts and bank holidays. The post holder may be required to work over the Christmas and New Year holiday, according to the prevailing roster.

Porters are responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the Porters’ Lodge.  This includes welcoming visitors and dealing with all enquiries efficiently, taking responsibility for the safety and security of College premises, and as Fire Wardens, responding to fire alarms and other emergencies.

The successful applicant will be customer-focused, with a friendly welcoming manner, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to deal with difficult situations calmly and efficiently. There is the opportunity for salary progression through performance-based increments. In addition, the College offers excellent benefits including an occupational pension scheme and free meals.
