Fixed Term Contract up until December 2021

35 Hours per week

 

Birmingham Mind is a registered mental health charity. We offer high quality services in the Midlands area and are governed by an experienced Board of Trustees who give their time for free to ensure that we meet our charitable aims and objectives. We offer a range of services which includes residential care homes, supported housing, support to people living in their own homes and activities and services in local Communities.

 

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join us as an Engagement and Development Worker in our Every Step of the Way service. This service is part of Changing Futures Together Programme funded by Big Lottery’s Fulfilling Lives initiative and led by Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC). The aim of the programme is to work with experts by experience and organisations to shape how services are delivered to vulnerable people with multiple complex needs.

 

We welcome applications from people with lived experience of multiple and complex needs which include mental health, substance use, homelessness and offending.

 

In this role, you will provide individualised professional development, creating personalised development plans for the people who have experienced complex needs and who are engaged in a formal role within the Programme. You will encourage people with complex needs to be involved in a variety of voluntary and paid opportunities, and will provide the necessary development guidance to ensure that their goals are being achieved. You will also be involved in supporting our Experts by Experience and Involvement Champions in their own personal development.

 

The successful candidates will have previous experience of working either in a voluntary or paid role supporting those who have complex needs. You must have a strong belief and commitment to user involvement and empowerment, along with well developed skills in dealing with challenging situations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required as well as excellent presentation skills.
