Lead Mechanical Design Engineer - Telecoms, Thermal, Stress, Antenna, Radio, PCB

Overview

The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will join an A-team developing the next generation products integrating high-end disciplines to achieve hi capacity of wireless connectivity.

The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative products. You will be responsible to drive key aspects of product definition, product design, testing & qualification and support to Ops for production.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of proven hands-on experience in full life cycle mechanical design for the wireless telecom industry with specific focus on: antennas, radios, waveguides, PCB integration, etc
  • Good theoretical and practical exposure of different materials and structural analysis of products for outdoor use in different wind load, corrosion and ice load environment.
  • Good hands on experience of the structure design of load bearing parts & modelling software - such as Solid works & Ansys FEA (stress analysis)
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing techniques/requirements - Injection moulding, castings, machining, extrusion; rolling, metal bending etc, to ensure the mechanical design is manufacturable.
  • Good experience of tolerance analysis and able to optimise the cost, keeping in view CtC (Critical to cost) and CtQ (Critical to quality) parameters.
  • Experience of designing products to meet compliance standards (like ETSI, FCC) including reliability testing for storage, operation and survival as per international standards
  • Experience of designing products to meet antenna and radio requirements for corrosion, wind load, ice load, humidity, shock, temperature variation, water ingress, drop test etc as per the regulatory requirements of ETSI, ASTM, ISO and others
  • Integrate and ability to work in cross discipline environment.
  • Design documentation, technical reports and presentation as required.
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering/related discipline or equivalent Industry experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, hands-on entrepreneurial environment
  • Eligible to work in UK

Preferable Qualification

  • Work experience at any major antenna or radio manufacturer as mechanical design engineer
  • MS/PhD with commercial experience of mechanical antenna/ODU design
