The Role;
Being a Linux Operations Engineer you will be given a once-in-a-lifetime experience to work in an environment which is both stimulating and positively challenging, embracing the culture of a truly game changing company.
As a Linux Operations Engineer your work will contribute towards the company's 24x7 hour operation, monitoring, maintaining, supporting and deploying unique cloud, virtualised and Windows & Linux infrastructure (Ubuntu, Centos, Debian, Redhat, and Samba).
The current environment favours Linux (hence why any flavour is of interest), however your Windows skills will still benefit you on a daily basis.
State-of-the-art facility and amazing working environment, commutable via train, bus, car or cycle. Technical training programmes also available in order to develop your Linux based knowledge.
If working within a shift pattern, 4 days on (7.30am-7.30pm), 4 days off, suits your work-life balance - then this is role for you.
Skills & Experience;
Candidate should have a minimum of 1 years' experience in an IT Operational support role working with Linux operating systems, HOWEVER happy to speak with professional who hold a knowledge of Linux based systems with very little commercial experience.
- Linux (ideally Ubuntu) Operating systems.
- Virtualisation (ideally Xen, alternatively advanced knowledge of others such as VMWare, KVM, Hyper-V etc.).
- Good understanding of core Internet technologies - Routing/Switching, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls.
Desirable Skills;
- Nagios, CheckMK, Apache, CouchDB, Windows Operating Systems, Shell Scripting (ideally BASH, or Python, Perl, Ruby, Powershell etc).
