Relief Support Worker
Location: Christchurch
Hours: Part time, 21 hours per week
Salary: £17,675 – £18,685 per annum FTE depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Relief Support Worker helps teams to deliver an integrated substance misuse service by providing relief work in the various hub and satellite teams across our service. This includes supporting the service user throughout their treatment journey from the initial referral/presentation stage through to treatment completion for their issues with drugs and/or alcohol.
You’ll achieve this by delivering a range of interventions including key working, strengths based assessment, recovery planning, and structured group and 1:1 work. You’ll receive training to ensure you can oversee a caseload in the absence of the allocated worker, including undertaking comprehensive assessments, recovery planning, appropriate referral/linkage and psychosocial interventions.
The role will also involve providing support and guidance to our volunteers and mentors. You’ll employ your skills and expertise to encourage those suitable to access the mentoring program as part of their aftercare/post treatment, and will be instrumental in ensuring that volunteers and mentors are supported to develop their confidence and skills within the integrated provision.
What we’re looking for
Our ideal candidate is someone with experience working in a similar field or environment, including undertaking assessments and delivering substance misuse psychosocial interventions in 1:1 and/or group work settings. You’ll understand the importance of the therapeutic alliance and will have some understanding of group working and group dynamics. Additionally, you’ll be keen to develop professionally and will be willing to undertake training and development that ensures you learn to demonstrate competent group work facilitation skills.
You’ll demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and time management skills and will be confident in managing your own priorities in order to carry a diverse workload with competing demands. Just as importantly, you’ll have a genuine interest in the understanding of substance misuse problems and a positive recovery focused attitude.
