Residential Childcare Worker
Residential Childcare Worker
Internally referred to as Therapeutic Support Workers
At Common Thread we support children and young people who are survivors of significant levels of trauma, abuse and neglect. As an organisation we are dedicated to leading in the creation and provision of innovative healing environments for the children and young people in our care.
A Therapeutic Support Worker is the most important role within our organisation as you will be working directly with our children and young people forming relationships built on mutual trust and respect – something our children and young people have perhaps never experienced before.
As a Therapeutic Support Worker, you can expect to receive the following support:
· Planned programme of training and induction
· Culture of learning and development to support you in your Common Thread journey including:
- A planned programme of training and induction
- Extensive learning programmes via our dedicated learning and talent development resources
- Inhouse career development opportunities
· Paid for counselling sessions with a therapist of your choosing
· Creative supervision (individual and team)
· Regular support and supervision from your line manager
· Flexible shift patterns which promote a healthy work life balance
· Retention bonus
Given the environments that our children and young people have survived in, their behaviours will be complex and often challenging therefore we will train you in our therapeutic model of care along with specific behavioural management interventions.
This is a challenging role and it won’t be for everyone; you will need to be personally resilient and able to withstanding challenging behaviour. There will however be no other job that can offer the same level of satisfaction and sense of accomplishment of positively influencing a child’s life and watching them thrive – knowing that you and your team played an integral role in making that happen.
You don’t need to be an experienced childcare practitioner to thrive in our organisation as we will give you all the learning and development opportunities, support, advice and guidance you will need.
We welcome applications from anyone who has a full drivers licence and can demonstrate the following traits.
· Values driven
