We are now looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Network Engineer to join our Digital, Data and Technology team to help us to achieve this.

You will join our award-winning Digital, Data and Technology Directorate which is the in-house IT division at the heart of the move to a digital, data-driven organisation with the ambition to provide our customers with cutting-edge digital services.

HM Land Registry's existing software systems and services form part of the critical national infrastructure, safeguarding land and property ownership valued at £7 trillion. This enables over £1 trillion worth of personal and commercial lending to be secured against property across England and Wales.

Job description

As a Cloud Network Engineer you will be part of the IT Operations Practice; which sits within the Digital, Data and Technology directorate, whose responsibility is for the performance and delivery of all technical infrastructure which, underpins and supports the organisation.

You will work as part of a cross functional team to implement, operate and support the HM Land Registry cloud network infrastructure. Main duties will include providing technical support for maintenance of IT Infrastructure and platforms, as part of a wider infrastructure engineering community. You will also represent your specialism on relevant projects and programmes, whilst providing advice and guidance to ensure services are developed in a supportable design. In addition, you will plan and manage technical changes related to your IT Operations specialism.


To meet the requirements of this role, you will have in depth knowledge, proven expertise and practical experience in Firewalls, Cloud based networking and Network monitoring. You will also have a solid understanding of internet routing protocols and concepts. Experience of configuring and managing AWS or Azure networking and Infrastructure as code and automation/orchestration technologies such as Ansible, Jenkins and Terraform is essential.

Alongside the technical experience required for this role, you will also be an effective communicator with demonstrable experience of dealing with 3rd party suppliers and customers. You also have evidence of high-level planning and managing technical change and effective time management skills.

Due to Covid-19, the role will initially be home based so an induction and training will be carried out remotely, with full support from the team. Once safe to do so, your home office will be located in the vibrant waterfront city of Plymouth.

• Holds a qualification in Information Technology (Degree Level or equivalent); and / or substantial experience in an IT role.
