Summary

It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry as we continue to embark on a major transformation programme. HMLR's ambition is to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data.

We are now looking for a Infrastructure Engineer and Senior Infrastructure Engineer (IT Security) to join our Digital, Data and Technology team to help us to achieve this.

You will join our award-winning Digital, Data and Technology Directorate which is the in-house IT division at the heart of the move to a digital, data-driven organisation with the ambition to provide our customers with cutting-edge digital services.

HM Land Registry's existing software systems and services form part of the critical national infrastructure, safeguarding land and property ownership valued at £7 trillion. This enables over £1 trillion worth of personal and commercial lending to be secured against property across England and Wales. You will be part of the IT Operations Practice, which is responsible for the performance and delivery of all technical infrastructure which underpins and supports the organisation.

Job description

The IT Security Team deliver a range of activities to support the implementation and compliance with HM Land Registry (HMLR) security policies. The team are responsible for the maintenance of information security controls across the organisation.

EO Infrastructure Engineer (IT Security)

Duties will include providing technical support for IT Infrastructure and platforms, as part of a wider infrastructure engineering community; along with assisting in the planning and management of technical changes related to your IT Operations specialism. Within your role, you will be required to pro-actively support live services and take responsibility for the resolution of live incidents or escalation, as appropriate.

You will also take responsibility for assimilating and developing your own knowledge base, whilst keeping up to date with emerging technologies and sharing this across the wider infrastructure community. In addition, you will also maintain software to support and enhance the security operation and procedures for access definition recovery, including disaster procedures.

HEO Senior Infrastructure Engineer (IT Security)

As well as providing technical support for maintenance of IT Infrastructure and platforms, as part of a wider infrastructure engineering community, you will be expected to represent your specialism on relevant projects and programmes, providing advice and guidance to ensure services are developed in a supportable design. You will also assist in the planning and management of technical changes related to your IT Operations specialism and implement technology to ensure non-functional requirements and service levels can be achieved, engaging with other technical specialists where appropriate.

Acting as a technical role model and leader within the IT Operations Practice and associated areas, you will share knowledge and experience in line with the continuous improvement agenda and to help build capability within the IT Operations. In addition, you will also manage HMLR’s security software and its operation, based upon the RACF and Microsoft Windows Active Directory core elements and monitor its day-to-day operation.

Responsibilities

• Experience in the use of Windows Server 2012 or newer version.
• Experience in one of either:
o Active Directory
o Group Policy
o NTFS Security
• Evidence of high-level planning and managing technical change.
• Effective communication skills, including ability to interact and build working relation with engineers and other stakeholders.
• Technical information gathering, analysis and problem solving.

HEO Senior Infrastructure Engineer (IT Security). To meet the requirements of this role, you will have:
• Experience in the use of Windows Server 2012 or newer version.
• Experience in one of
o Active Directory and Group Policy
o NTFS Security
o Cloud Infrastructure Security
• Experience in at least 2
o ADFS
o Powershell
o Threat and Vulnerability Management
o DDoS and WAF
o Azure AD
o Certificate Management
• Evidence of high-level planning and managing technical change.
• Effective communication skills, including ability to interact and build working relation with engineers and other stakeholders.
• Technical information gathering, analysis and problem solving.

Due to Covid-19, the role will initially be home based so an induction and training will be carried out remotely, with full support from the team. Once safe to do so, your home office will be located in the vibrant waterfront city of Plymouth.

Qualifications

Holds a qualification in Information Technology or a related area (Degree Level or equivalent) or experience in an IT field.
