A vacancy has arisen within the Trading Standards Service. The successful candidate would be appointed to the post of either a Trading Standards Officer or an Assistant Trading Standards Officer, dependent upon their qualifications, competencies and enforcement experience. The post holder will be required to carry out a range of statutory trading standards enforcement duties depending upon their qualifications and competency.
The post holder will work within a generic team carrying out inspections, projects, and investigations into complex and serious breaches of trading standards legislation. Identify legal contraventions and select, recommend and execute appropriate enforcement activity based on assessed risk. The post holder will have sole responsibility for undertaking this work and the duties will include presenting solutions to bring a resolution to complex issues.
Applicants must have recent enforcement experience, a good absence record and willing to work outside normal office hours.
The post holder will be required to comply with the training, qualifications and competence requirements and they must hold one of the following qualifications:
Professional CTSI qualification Diploma in Trading Standards (DTS) or Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards (DCATS) or Higher Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards (HDCATS) or Trading Standards Practitioner Diploma (TSPD) or equivalent and a university degree. Legal Metrology and Food Standards modules are essential for this role.
