Childcare Paralegal - Bedfordshire - GBP25k - 6 month FTC

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Childcare Paralegal to join the legal team of an established Local Authority in Bedfordshire. This role will predominantly operate remotely, however office presence is vital for an initial induction period. If government advice should change drastically during the contract, office presence may be mandatory.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Paralegal possessing previous Childcare or Family Law experience including prior responsibility for a PLO caseload alongside offering administrative support to Solicitors.

Day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Handling a PLO caseload and preparing court bundles

  • Attending PLO meetings where required

  • Liaising with external parties and Counsel to provide a chronology of events

  • Drafting documents including: Part 25 Applications, letters before proceedings, briefs to counsel, and letters of instruction to experts

  • Dealing with S.7 and S.37 reports where required

  • Obtaining costs estimates and availability of expert witnesses

  • Gathering evidence and documentation including taking witness statements from witnesses

Whilst candidates possessing previous experience within Childcare Law in a Local Government environment would be preferred, candidates from a Private sector background are also encouraged to apply.

This role will pay a salary of GBP25,000, which will be paid on a pro rata basis.
