This very exciting newly created role will ensure we are capturing the data from our technology sources to allow us to interpret it and drive value. The industry is still in its infancy in this area, as such it is an exciting opportunity for someone to join us with the same passion and enthusiasm to support our changes in the way we operate, based on the new information and intelligence being provided.

Provenance is our priority. We have full control over our eggs, birds and feed, meaning we're able to trace each product back to its root. Our agricultural supply chain starts with breeder stock, which supply eggs to our hatcheries who, in turn, provide day-old chicks to our grow-out farms. We have over 350 farms, 7 hatcheries and 3 feed mills; all based in England and Wales and operating to the highest welfare standards.

Purpose of the role
The Technology Development Officer will investigate existing and novel technologies to improve management, performance, sustainability and welfare of birds across our agricultural base. The key areas of focus will include:
• Welfare
• Compliance
• Feed/FCR
• Ensuring the right birds at the right time are into the factory
• More effective use of internal resources, working better with farmers to drive performance and efficiencies

Your key responsibilities as a Technology Development Officer will include:
This role is part of a team encompassing data collation and analysis, Research and Development and tasks in these other areas will be expected as well as covering for absences.
• Understand existing and novel technologies available or in development which may be of benefit to the agricultural division
• Receive information about existing and novel technologies from internal and external stakeholders
• Define what benefit the technology will bring
• Build a business case for implementation of the technology
• Work with the Research and Development coordinator to develop and undertake trial usage of technology
• Work with the Data Scientist to integrate data from the systems
• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders

What we are looking for
This role will require excellent analytical skill with numbers and be able to work beyond the capabilities of excel understanding the data analytical process, data modelling/mining and the interpretation of the result.
You will be able to see beyond the transactional and understand how the entire system fits together to drive process and performance improvements. A practical nature is needed alongside the ability to turn theory into reality.
A persuasive and open nature to be able to work with and influence others of the value and benefits of adopting new ways of working.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Technology or Agricultural Machinery. Relevant experience within the industry will be taken into account.
