Do you want to work in one of the country's most vibrant newsrooms, in the best city in the world?

The Manchester Evening News is already the largest regional website in the country with a huge audience - but we want to get even bigger.

We are looking for a writer to create compelling TV content as well as writing stories about Manchester Life for our website and app.

The successful candidate will be a versatile journalist who has excellent storytelling abilities, strong social media skills and understands what people want to read.

The role will requires some evening and weekend working

What will the role involve?

    Working as part of a team that creates reads about all aspects of Manchester Life including long reads, real life, food and drink, parenting, property and lifestyle content. Sourcing, creating, producing and sharing engaging television content Becoming the expert in your area of expertise, building a following and audience for your contentPlaying an active part in helping your content reach its audience by sharing it in the right places and engaging with your audienceWorking with the search editor to ensure we have the right TV content on our siteComing up with search content ideas around TV, film and streaming servicesCreating top quality content to a high standard with pictures, video, audio, strong headlines and an understanding of SEO where necessaryUsing analytics to inform content decisions

What are we looking for?

    A Reach Plc or equivalent journalist qualification (or relevant time-served experience)We want you to be passionate about storytelling and have the ability to generate ideas that will engage our audienceYou'll have a very good understanding of SEO and social media as well experience using web publishing systemsFirst-class communication and organisational skillsThe ability to use and apply learning through digital analytics Up-to-date knowledge of media law and IPSO code
