Chesterton Community College

About Chesterton Community College

In 1974 the schools were re-organised as a mixed Community Comprehensive College, and in 2011 Chesterton became an Academy.

The popularity of the College is increasing and we are over-subscribed. Our intake is truly comprehensive, reflecting the diverse and thriving community in which we are situated. Over 90 languages are spoken by Chesterton pupils, and over 25% of pupils come from homes where English is not the first language.

Our exam performance has improved continually over the last four years. But in addition to our focus on the academic achievement and personal development of our students, we are proud of our role as a Community College which is driven by two core aims:

  • to provide a lifelong learning experience for all sections of the community
  • to provide a broad-ranging and responsive education for those sections traditionally under-represented in education.

Consequently, we offer one of the most extensive programmes of community education in the county, with over 3000 members of the local community using our site each week.
