Retirement resignation

If you’ve decided that it’s time to retire, it’s best practice to formalise your workforce departure by notifying your current employer in writing. A retirement resignation letter is the last you’ll ever have to write, so  stick to the formalities and thank the company for the employment opportunity and experience, but be sure to make it a good one.

Retiring from your job? Use our sample retirement resignation letter as a template for your formal resignation notification. Tailor it to suit you, and hand it to your employer during or after an in person discussion.
