Video interviews are becoming an increasingly common part of the recruitment process and you may find that a company will invite you for a video interview after you have applied. What is a video interview?
A video interview is an interview conducted remotely via a video call system such as Zoom, Skype or Facetime. Video interviews are typically conducted as the first stage of the interview process.
What should you wear for a video interview?
You all know what you should wear to a face-to-face interview and what never to wear, and video interviews are no different. Try to dress smartly in the same sort of clothes you would wear to a regular interview… And don’t forget to wear trousers!
What will you be asked in a video interview?
A video interview is rather similar to a phone interview. You will be asked basic admin questions such as salary expectations and notice period as well as the typical competency based questions you can expect from any interview.
In a video interview you will not typically be asked to perform a task or skills based assessment as these sorts of tests are usually only during a face-to-face meeting.
