WHAT IS PIP?

As part of the Government's welfare reform agenda, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have introduced a new benefit called the Personal Independence Payment (PIP). Replacing the Disability Living Allowance (DLA), PIP is designed to better reflect today's understanding of disability and is focused on helping with the extra costs disabled people face to lead independent lives.

Using the skills from your healthcare training in a new way, you will focus on determining how a claimants disability or impairment affects their daily living or mobility. To do this you will undertake a face to face assessment with the claimant using your excellent communication skills, good questioning techniques, empathy and respect to ensure you capture all the information you need. Using a laptop you will complete a very structured report making use of your observation and evidence to provide a detailed written summary.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

This is a real change from caring for a patient in a medical setting and so our comprehensive training course will prepare you for the journey you are going on. The program will take you through both clinical and practical modules, followed by comprehensive IT training. You will then progress to the next stage of training, 5 flexible coaching/mentoring days ensuring you have the skills to gain grade' A' reports and resulting in your DWP accreditation.

This will build on your experience and equip you with the necessary skills essential for the role. The training has been designed for your convenience, with a combination of office and home based training to fit around your current commitments whilst preparing you to be a fully trained DWP accredited Disability Assessors.
