This specific team work with a number of large London based private sector property developers, whose portfolio consists of mainly commercial and high end residential shell & core and CAT A works.
As Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for undertaking the design of mechanical building engineering services including plant room design, heating, domestic hot and cold water services, ventilation and air conditioning. Day to day duties will include; design and supervise mechanical services, prepare sketch and scheme designs, prepare drawings, specifications and tender documentation, assist with tenders and preparation of tender reports, attend site progress meetings and inspection of installation works, conduct surveys of existing installations and preparation of condition reports and preparation of project cost plans and estimates.

The ideal candidate would:

• Been educated to HNC/Degree standard in Mechanical Engineering
• An excellent knowledge of the current Building Regulations, SAP calculations, IES calculations, together with thermal heat gains and heat losses.
• Specific knowledge of refrigeration systems and pipework, together with general heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
• Previous experience of both commercial and residential project management is needed for this role
• Obtained Chartered Engineer status with CIBSE or IMechE, or be proactively working towards chartership.

Our client is looking for a Mechanical / HVAC Engineer with years of hand on experience and the knowledge to be able to fault find issues. Must have a good manner of how to express technical information and minimum 5 years' experience.

Job Purpose:

The post holder is responsible for carrying out a wide range of mechanical duties along with any plumbing and general handyman activities, electrical not essential but desirable. To work as required at any of the premises managed by the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

M and E Activities:

- Carry out daily plant walk to check condition and operation of all plant and equipment, note any faults and report remedial works needed on appropriate paperwork.

- Carrying out any planned maintenance and subsequent remedial repair activities on all mechanical and electrical plant.

- Carry out planned maintenance activities on VAV's, fan coils and other building HVCA plant for which they have been trained.

- Carry out installations and repairs on mechanical plant including bellows on LCS (barrel pipe work system), valves, actuators, pumps etc.

- Investigate and identify faults assess and develop repair requirements.

- Ability to carry out remedials.

- Carry out and certify any electrical installations as required.

- Ensuring assigned work is completed within requisite timescales and the client is satisfied with the work carried out.

- Complete all paperwork and job reports on time.

General Building / Fabric Maintenance:

- Carry out check of building fabric condition on a weekly basis.

- Carry out ad hoc building fabric repairs as necessary.

- Touch up paintwork and decorations as required.

- Clearing of toilet blockages and general drainage issues.

- Carrying out general handyman and repair activities.

- Ensuring assigned work is completed within requisite timescales and the client is satisfied with the work carried out.

General:

- Ensure the Maintenance Offices and stores are kept in a clean and tidy condition.

- Ensure contractors and others leave building in a clean and tidy condition after carrying out work.

- Assisting with or carrying out any other reasonable duties for which they have been trained and are competent.

- To work flexibly and be prepared to perform other reasonable duties either at the normal place of work or at other company work locations.

- Carry out all duties in a safe manner and in accordance with the company's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

- Have excellent personal hygiene and present a professional and friendly image to all clients, customers and potential customers.

- Take appropriate tool kit and paperwork to every job.

Electrical desirable but not a deal breaker.

This is a foot mobile position.

Mechanical bias.

Drivers licence required.

Shift work required to cover 2.00pm - 10.00pm on a set rota or Tuesday to Saturday working week. These terms are to be negotiated with candidate.

The ideal candidate should live no more than 45 minutes travel from Hammersmith.
