We launched in March 2012 and are open seven days a week, 52 weeks of the year. Our facilities include a dedicated sports hall, indoor climbing wall/ fitness suite, boxing studio, dance and performing arts studio, music and multi-media spaces cafe.

Candidates that have previous experience working with children with challenging behaviour would be an advantage, whether within a classroom environment or at alternative provisions such as activity centres, summer camps etc.

The children within these environments are aged between 14 and 16 and are no longer within mainstream education, mostly due to behaviour issues due to an array of special needs. Randstad are working in partnership with this client to cover a long term sickness for the duration of 2 to 3 months to start from Monday 20th January. Behaviour management and de-escalation skills will be a huge part of the role as well as aiming to engage the students into learning within an alternative education environment.

You will have an excellent understanding of positive handling and managing behaviour and be able to engage the child and build a strong relationship. This will be a very challenging yet rewarding role. Formal restraint training ie TeamTeach will also give you a strong advantage.

Those with a background working in Primary or Secondary Schools, Pupil Referral Units and Special Needs Schools will do very well as well as those coming from a background working as a Youth Worker, Mentor, Sports Coach and Summer Camp Mentors.

Young people who are affected by imprisonment are a hidden group. NEPACS is in a unique position to be able to target resources to reach this vulnerable group. NEPACS runs visitors’ centres in 6 prisons in the North East and this means every family that visit in the North East will come into contact with NEPACS staff and services.

The Youth Project@NEPACS supports young people between the ages of 8 – 18 to visit family members in prison to support and strengthen family relationships and facilitates opportunities for outreach activities and peer support.

We are looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Youth Worker who will take a lead role in developing youth provision at HMP Holme House.

The post will be based in HMP Holme House Visitors’ Centre in Stockton.
