Must be a competent all rounder with a machine shop background. Experience of CNC Setting & programming essential along with setting experience of conventional lathes, millers and drillers. Knowledge of metallurgy an advantage as we carry out heat treatment in house. Will be required to manage a workforce of 11. This will include all aspects of daily supervision. Job Purpose
•To manage the production and logistics areas of the site, and to be responsible for all production and logistics staff based at the site on a shift basis.
•To contribute to the management of a busy Sterile Services Unit, managing a team of sterile services personnel on a day to day basis, ensuring that Sterile Service provision complies with current legislation.
•To provide leadership through personal example, promoting sound departmental communication and fostering good interpersonal relationships.
A detailed outline of the role is as follows: -
1.To be responsible for the day to day running of the production

2.To monitor and control the use of capital equipment

3.To assume prime site responsibility for all Health and Safety Policy issues

4.To ensure that all designated staff are informed and trained appropriately

5.To act as site Fire Controller

6.To proactively lead all staff

7.To monitor and ensure that all product despatched conform to accepted Company Quality guidelines

8.To effectively control and manage the planned maintenance of the premises

9.To effectively plan and schedule all production

10.To approve test reports on process equipment

11.To actively monitor absence levels of staff

12.To coach, support and guide all staff

13.To agree appropriate financial parameters and budgets

14.To participate in the on call management service

15.To lead and actively promote participation in all Company communications initiatives

16.To undertake any other duties or tasks as reasonably required

• In addition the successful candidate would be able to demonstrate successful implementation of lean manufacturing methodologies and in particular 5S.
• Qualified to OND/HND/HNC level or suitable equivalent. Mechanical engineering discipline would be advantageous
• Must be a strong hands-on manager who ‘walks the floor’ and helps to drive productivity, quality, cost and customer service across the team, with a can-do attitude and exceptional communication skills, to create teamwork within the production team and support services of purchasing, QA, Engineering.

You will also ensure that Health and Safety standards are met through the use of SHE and Engineering resources. Ensure that appropriate induction and training is given to all staff as well as reviewing and managing the team, identifying any training needs whilst monitoring timekeeping, holidays, absenteeism and conducting related meetings. Other responsibilities will include monitoring supervisor’s targets and ensuring their daily audits are carried out for each of their areas of responsibility and conducting their PDR’s. Measuring and reporting on any production and staffing issues as well as any other duties required by the company.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role ideally within a food production environment and will hold a Food Safety Certificate. It is essential that you have working knowledge of packing and blending machinery as well as Health and Safety within food manufacturing. With previous management experience, you will have previously worked to KPI’s and be used to working within a fast moving, pressurised environment.

With excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, you will be able to use Microsoft Office, including Outlook and have experience of producing reports.
