Job Description

The Clinical Pharmacist will work closely with patients, consultants and third parties to provide a high standard of pharmaceutical services which consistently meet the needs of all service users. The post holder will use their proven clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge to provide a pharmacy service that is in line with GPhC guidelines to all clients.

This is a permanent, full time role, working 37.5 hours per week, with shifts including days, weekends and public holidays.



Key Responsibilities

* Dispense, label and supply medicines as requested to both in and out-patients
* Maintain minimum safe levels of medicines and gases an re-order as necessary
* Ensure correct storage and destruction of medicines
* Provide advice and support to clinical staff in other departments
* Clinically screen prescriptions and undertake clinical and accuracy checks
* Provide an inpatient clinical service
* Maintain a high level of clinical practice in accordance with legal and professional requirements
* Other duties as requested by the Pharmacy Manager



Skills & Experience

* GPC registered
* Additional post graduate clinical qualifications
* Significant post graduate hospital experience
* Experience of working with Information systems and electronic prescribing systems
* Experience of training both Pharmacy and multidisciplinary staff
* Previous ITU experience (desirable)
* RPS membership (desirable)


Personal Attributes

* Ability to work well under pressure
* Desire to provide an exceptional patient experience
* Ability to deal with complex clinical pharmacy issues in patient care

Due to the nature of the role, a full driving licence is required.

The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.15 pm with an unpaid lunch break of 45 minutes.

* To participate in rota for working on Bank Holidays as and when necessary.
* To ensure that safe systems of work are practiced with due regard to Health and Safety, COSHH Regulations, Guide to Good Distribution Practice and National Pharmaceutical Standards.
* To carry out any other reasonable duties defined by the Pharmacy Manager within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the job.
