Backend Developer (Java Play Framework) - App Start-Up Backed by Telefonica
£30,000 - £35,000 with share options
EC1

We are looking to expand our development team and are looking for an experienced Backend Developer!

A Little About Us:

We are a technology start-up which has received investment from Telefonica and we've now gone on to launch our restaurant and retail product with a number of big brands in the UK. Or product allows customers to escape standing in line by joining a virtual queue on their mobile phone.

The Backend Developer Role:

We are looking for a back-end web developer to take the brand to the next level. We have built up an amazing system that is in use by a number of top retailers and restaurants, and we need you to take over the full-time development of this to further improve what we have, but also be a key player in the implementation of new features (we have lots planned!).

You should have experience in developing web applications, ideally using Java frameworks (we use Play!), and also experience in the Dev Ops role so someone who knows their way around build, testing and deployment tools is a must. (We use Jenkins and Ansible but are open to improvements on this..)

You will be working closely with the CTO, Front-end developer and mobile dev's to ensure that the server-side code is able to handle the demand from multiple clients. You will be the main product "owner" for the server code and will be the kind of person who strives for improvement. There is great potential for growth within this role and the salary is likely to increase within 6 months as we bring on more developers.

Backend Developer Key Skills:

// RESTful web services
// JSON
// Java
// Play Framework (1.2)
// CI / Automated tests
// JPA with MySQL
// Experience working in an Agile environment
// Linux servers
// Jenkins/Ansible/Jira/Bamboo
// Developing for enterprise (working on integrations with 3rd party systems)
// OSX (We all use mac's but if your PC then I'm sure we can accommodate you... )

We’re looking for someone to join us as soon as possible as we’re really starting to ramp up on work at the moment.

You would be working in our Old Street offices and become a key member in a growing team with the possibility of share options.

You may have worked in the following capacities:
Java Developer, Java Programmer, Java Software Developer.

The Backend Developer (Java Play Framework) role is being managed by agency innovator RecruitmentRevolution.com. By applying for this role you give express consent for us to process & submit (subject to required skills) your application to our client in conjunction with this vacancy only.
