Job Description: The successful candidate will be developing and implementing the company's World leading Image Signal Processor (ISP) IP cores, working closely with major semiconductor companies to deliver SoCs into the camera and mobile devices markets. Working closely with our Systems Architect and Algorithms engineers, they will be responsible for implementing complex video processing functions, often working from Matlab models, to delivering production-quality RTL.

Skills Required:
• Understanding of embedded system level design, such as memory and processor interfaces/buses etc.
• Circuit optimization and industry standard coding styles in VHDL
• Understanding of low power design techniques
• FPGA place, route, optimization and timing closure using Altera and/or Xilinx devices and tools
• Synthesis and static timing analysis using Synopsys Design Compiler
• Simulation using ModelSim, NC Sim and/or VCS
• PCB level debug using logic analysers, bus analysers and/or oscilloscopes
• Lint and CDC analysis using Spyglass
• Code coverage analysis using VCS
• Good written communication skills , with the ability to develop clear design requirement specifications and technical reference manuals
• Excellent analytic and troubleshooting skills
• First degree at 2:1 or above in a related technical discipline; preference for master’s degree

Experience Required:
• Good experience of implementation of hardware-based video processing on FPGA or ASIC in a camera or display related product.
• Matlab would be very helpful, but not essential

Other Requirements:
• This position is within a small team so the successful candidate must be able to work well with colleagues and possess good communication skills.
• The candidate must be highly motivated, keen to make a real contribution to the development of our range of IP and software products
• The position may involve occasional travel to customer sites

Based on site with a major automotive OEM in Basildon, Essex you will be leading the development and integration of powertrain control systems This role requires the candidate to work within a multinational cross functional team incorporating among others engine design, vehicle electrical/electronic systems, powertrain control hardware and software, powertrain control sensors, project management, research and applications teams. The candidate will be responsible for leading the definition, development and integration of a control system hardware for given powertrains with the aim of achieving the best cost/function trade off while maximising re-use and minimising overall complexity of systems across powertrains.

The candidate will be the main point of contact working closely with the tier 1 supplier with respect to the design and validation of the powertrain control module electronics hardware ensuring that it delivers all functional and financial targets while meeting Ford corporate engineering standards. The candidate will also be expected to be an active participant, and lead where required, with on-going process improvement initiatives.

You may be required to travel regularly to support programs and liaise with suppliers, so must have a valid passport and the ability to travel around Europe.

Experience & Background Skills Required:
• Electrical/Electronics Engineering degree or similar.
• Electronics Hardware and or embedded control systems development experience ideally in an automotive environment.
• Experience and understanding of modern powertrain control systems would be advantageous though not essential.
• Good business and financial acumen.
• Self-motivated with excellent team and leadership skills.
• Ability to work within a multinational, multicultural cross functional team.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

As a Senior Electronics Hardware Designer, the ideal candidate will have the following skills:

Extensive design skill in variable output DC:DC switch-mode (15 - 50W) converters
Extensive design skill in specifying and designing with PICs.
Ability to design communications interfaces: Ethernet, RS232, USB.
Knowledge of transmission line theory.
Circuit design and analysis in PSpice, including worst case corner analysis and Monte Carlo analysis.
Ability to accurately create production documentation from designs.
Ability to use typical lab equipment; oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, etc
Ability to construct prototypes by hand (skill with manual soldering, hand tools, etc)
Ability to design products and specify components for compliance with CE, RoHS, REACH, WEEE.
Ability to work with a developing New Product Introduction system.

Desirable skills:
LED drives
PCB layout skills EasyPC
