They are now recruiting for a Finance Assistant to work 22 hours per week with the potential to increase to 30. The successful candidate will receive £20-23000 PA (full time equivalent, so applied pro-rata) depending on experience.

As a Finance Assistant, your key responsibilities will be:

- Maintain client records
- Raising purchase orders
- Inputting Cost invoices using the existing Enterprise System (Paprika)
- To prepare weekly bank reconciliation's for all bank accounts
- You’ll be responsible for the processing of employee expenses.  This will involve; obtaining and checking claims, allocating them to the correct projects, ensuring that VAT and nominal codes are correct, getting sign offs and presenting them for payment.
- You will support the Project Managers and Account Managers by checking estimates on Paprika and ensuring that all projects are correctly invoiced
- You will be required to take on additional duties such as general administrative duties as required by your line manager, and be expected to support them during periods of absence

To be successful in the role of Finance Assistant, you will have excellent communication skills, be a fast learner with a can-do attitude and have a hands on approach to work. You will also be energetic, be willing to work in a team and have the following skills and qualifications:

- Experience of using Paprika (the accounting system) is desirable but not essential
- Minimum of a Finance related degree or an AAT qualification
- Purchase ledger and debtor collection experience
- Minimum of three years Book keeping experience
- Planning and organisational skills
- Proactively take on responsibilities

Nature of the Post
The Together Trust currently employs around 750+ permanent staff, with around a further 100 relief and supply staff, across a number of sites in the North of England. The organisation is primarily split between Residential, Community services Education and Fostering.
The Finance Department, based at the Together Trust Centre, Cheadle, services the whole trust with a current turnover circa £21m. The Finance department currently comprises of a Finance & Administration Manager and 5 support staff to provide sales, purchasing, payroll, banking, management and statutory accounting and financial management. The job requires interaction with other members of the finance department with an equal knowledge base, as well as assisting unit/department staff across the Trust.

As part of the Together Trust Finance Service staff team, the post holder will be expected to participate and support the ethos of the Trust. In respect of the general responsibilities as an employee of the Trust, the post holder will be required to:

• Promote a positive image of the department and the Trust at all times.

• Be aware of and follow the relevant policies and procedures, including safeguarding.

• Maintain confidentiality for all areas of the post.

• Co-operate with all Together Trust staff in maintaining harmonious interpersonal relations.

• Perform any duties as may reasonably be required by the Trust, or as requested by the post holder’s line manager and other senior managers.

Principal Responsibilities

The post holder will manage the Trusts’ purchase ledger and co-ordinate the processing and payment of around 12,000 invoices during the year.

Prepare fortnightly BACs / Cheque payment runs ensuring maximum credit is taken without incurring penalties or discontinuation of service.

Reconcile statements from suppliers at least quarterly, any differences investigated and resolved to ensure correct accounting of the Trusts’ liabilities.

Ensuring utility prices for each service is being charged at a competitive price, to record all bills and deal with any queries.

Record accurately the Trusts’ banking transactions so that they may be analysed further by the finance officer / finance manager / directors.

Nominal account reconciliations in respect of purchase ledger and other fund accounts

Perform any duties as may reasonably be required by the Trust, or as requested by the post holder’s line manager and other senior managers.

Provide Training and support to all services in accurate cash management recording using the approved cash management database

Person Specification

• A good understanding of SAGE particularly purchase ledger and cash management

• A good understanding of Accounting Practices pertaining to the structure and formation of accounts.
