Customer Technical Support - Coatings

Reporting the Technical Manager the objective of this role is to provide technical support and advice to Sales, Technical and Quality Department and customers, both internal and external, to ensure that the external customer receives a delivered product meeting quality requirements.

Tasks:
· Analyse complaints and initiate preventative actions to avoid repeats
· Promote and advise departments in connection with any necessary investigations and/or actions required to analyse a complaint
· Maintain complaints system
· At the request of Sales, to advise on the technical limitations, possibilites or obstacles in meeting the requirements of new customers, products, etc
· Support the definition and manage customer specifications
· Compile and manage product warranties for vendors and customers
· Issue warranties after approval by Technical Director
· Follow-up product trials, internally and externally, and issue information relating to customer issues
· Assist in the laboratory, including daily water sampling in the Waste Water Treatment Plant
· Visit customer sites if required to inspect material.
· Organising and acquire customer samples for Sales Dept
· Process paint enquiries for new colours
· Investigate and advise on all new technologies and standards which may have a business impact
· Weekly notification of new customer product runs

Responsibilities:
· Ensure compliance to the Company's Health, Safety & Environmental policies
· Resolve complaints in a timely manner ensuring effective and sufficient communication with customer and Sales
· Manage trials through production processes
· Ensure timely and correct samples to customers

Authorities:
· Adjust effluent process to ensure compliance with Anglian Water consent.
· Adjust specification for trials to achieve customer requirements
· Initiate an 8D corrective action on a complaint more than €5,000
· Agree customer product specifications

The ideal person for this role will have the following background/experience:

· Good technical knowledge of paints and/or metal - coating, paint or powder coating
· Manufacturing - pre-treating metals, chemistry (good colour matching skills, keen eye for detail)
· Chemical Engineering Degree with proven industry experience in a similar environment
· Current valid driving licence
· Good colour vision

The client are looking for someone who wants to progress through the Company and maybe to the position of Technical Manager, Plant Manager therefore they need the ability and appetite to learn and progress through the business. You will need to be a good communicator as there will be occasions when you will go out to see customers to solve technical or quality issues. This may be at short notice so you will need to be flexible. In return the company offers a salary of £30,000.

We require graduates in the disciplines of Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical and Chemical Engineering, although other related disciplines will also be considered.

This opportunity has high visibility and profile so excellent interpersonal and written skills are required.

Due to the nature of the work, the candidates must have a suitable background that will allow them to achieve UK security clearance (please note that this is very difficult to achieve within the timescales for non UK nationals, and you will subject to a screening process prior to interview to ensure that you meet the security clearance criteria).
