Monksfield is a purpose-built residential service for disabled children and young people situated in Hexham Northumberland, we offer a residential home for disabled children and young people aged 8-18 years in Oaks and residential short breaks in Acorn for disabled children and young people aged 6 - 17years. Children services workers support the children services practitioners to deliver direct care to disabled children and young people. You should be enthusiastic, enjoy working with children, be able to work independently and as part of a team. You should be committed to self development and good practice. Idealy you will have an VQ diploma in child care level 3 or an equivalent qualification.

The children and young people at Royal School Manchester have a range of learning, communication, multi-sensory and physical needs and a number of students with autism spectrum condition.

They are currently looking to recruit a an Occupational Therapist to provide a specialist in-depth assessment and intervention plans for young adults and children with a variety of complex needs to include physical and learning difficulties, multisensory impairment, communication difficulties, autism and challenging behaviour.

Accepting clinical responsibility for a designated caseload and working in line with identified service/clinical priorities, you will provide an occupational perspective of each of the young people and will contribute to multidisciplinary team work. You will provide clear written therapy programmes, maintain up to date clinical data, ensuing the need for specialist equipment is assessed.

Candidates for this role must have a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification, registered with the College of Occupational Therapists (COT) and hold a registration within the Health Professions Council (HPC). It is essential you have experience of working as an Occupational Therapist with children and / or young people with profound communication impairments, including people who are non-verbal with the ability to undertake tasks involving physically active sessions and dexterity.

Within this role you will assist the Deputy Manager in achieving the aims and objectives set out in the Statement of Purpose. Leading a team you will ensure systems are developed to ensure the effective allocation of resources and will promote the efficient and effective operation of the Home.

Candidates for this role will be educated to GSCE standard and will hold an NVQ 3 in caring for Children & Young People with learning difficulties. Experience within a supervisory role and working within a residential setting with Young People with challenging behaviours is essential. Counselling Skills, Drugs Awareness Training and experience of acting as an appropriate adult (PACE) would be desirable, however is not essential.

These roles require an enhanced DBS Check
