Reporting to the Design Manager, the successful candidate will be tasked with taking customer design specifications and translating them into workable mechanical and thermal designs, creating mechanical designs using 2D/3D CAD software programs such as AutoCAD, Pro-E, Inventor or Creo and effectively using FEA software to design and optimize to component elements.

Additionally you will operate in-house thermal design software, and a working knowledge of CFD software would prove distinctly advantageous. You will regularly liaise with both external and internal customers including Manufacturing and Purchasing teams at a technical level, and be comfortable in working both autonomously on projects and as part of a team.

To be considered for this varied and extremely challenging position, you will demonstrate a relevant HNC or Degree qualification or equivalent with a mechanical / thermodynamic bias, and ideally previous experience gained within a heat transfer related field preferred.

You will be computer literate, including MS Word and Excel, and ideally will possess previous experience of designing shell and tube heat exchangers and tube and fin charge air coolers. With your sound knowledge of 3D CAD software (with Inventor or Creo proving advantageous), you will possess excellent communication skills at all levels and a full driving license for the role as occasional trips to surrounding locations and suppliers may be required as well as occasional trips overseas.
