We are currently recruiting for a Helpdesk Administrator to work with our client based just out of Taunton Town Centre.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at our clients head office in Taunton. Working amongst a team of IT professional in an administration capacity this is a fantastic role for someone looking to further their skills and knowledge in both the IT and administration sectors.

The main duties of the role involve fielding calls from internal members of staff involving IT issues affecting the business, taking detailed notes, entering details onto the internal database and transferring the details to the IT department.

You will be become part of the team, answering queries, and to provide general administration support to the IT department.

You will be highly computer literate, fluent with Word and Excel. Ideally with some previous experience in data entry as your responsibilities will include updating the compliance database in line with company procedures.

You will be willing to learn, have a professional telephone manner, be computer literate and keen to advance and progress through the business into other roles.

Hours of work are 08:00 to 17:00 with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break.

Pay is £7.50 / hour

Start date ASAP

Previous experience in an IT related role with a strong emphasis on administration is desirable but not a requirement as full training is provided
This role is initially for four (4) weeks, however this could extend for the right candidate

TLT is a large national law firm, and invests heavily in Information Technology to help develop and grow its business. The IT Team at TLT cover a broad range of technical disciplines from Helpdesk to Architecture. TLT has a sizeable development team that have access to the latest technologies, enabling them to deliver a wide variety of projects including web services, extranets, office integration, business intelligence, process automation and Sharepoint development.

TLT Developers use a range of programming languages to produce applications and software service including C#, T-SQL, Javascript, XML, XSLT, CSS, HTML and bespoke scripting languages.

TLT also utilises a number of third party applications and platforms including Sharepoint, SQL Server, K2, Interwoven and SOS Connect. Reporting to the IT Operations Manager and the Process Development Team which is a sub team within IT.

As part of this role you will have the opportunity to go through external T-SQL and K2 developer training, this will be in addition to our in-house training.

Within this role your main responsibilities will include developing and maintaining management information and reporting, developing and maintaining reports within our case management systems, analysing business requirements to enable the development and testing of new business processes and working with project teams to design, develop, test and release new project processes in case management systems. You will also be expected to ensure new processes and applications are documented, demoed and handed over fully to the IT Service Desk, continually review applications and code, create, maintain and update user access levels and design, develop, test and maintain integration with other core applications.

The successful candidate will have some experience of working within a similar role (this could be in work experience capacity) and will hold a relevant, recognised IT qualification. You should be confident in using C#, T-SQL, Javascript, XML, XSLT, CSS and HTML and you will be a strong communicator who can deal with all levels of individuals, including non-technical. It is essential that you are highly organised and can plan and prioritise a heavy workload with ever changing responsibilities. You must also be able to think outside the box to come up with innovative resolutions to problems that may occur. You will be customer focussed and understand the important of using your time wisely and you will be keen to learn new skills and abilities.

The Role

The 1st Line Support Engineer / Technician position will support existing customers through the helpdesk and offer pre-sales support and information to potential new clients. The role of 1st Line Support Engineer / Technician is a combination of customer service and technical support and we are interested in hearing from candidates not just with experience on both / either side, but with good knowledge of website and web hosting related technologies

The Company

Our client is a rapidly growing business which has created a unique platform for hosting web sites and other services. It uses industry standard technologies such as UNIX, MySQL and Apache together with leading edge emerging technologies such as ZFS and Amazon Web Services to provide an integrated system for storage, replication and web clustering. The company sells primarily to web hosting and cloud provider companies and is based close to Bristol Temple Meads station, with excellent transport links.

The Person

The successful candidate for the role of 1st Line Support Engineer / Technician will have a good understanding of web hosting technologies and how they interconnect. An ideal candidate would understand each stage in the process of loading a web page or receiving an email. The 1st Line Support Engineer / Technician must have knowledge of the following web technologies and protocols:

* HTTP/ HTTPS
* Basic runtime Apache configuration (.htaccess files)
* MySQL
* FTP
* SSH
* SMTP
* IMAP / POP3
* DNS

The 1st Line Support Engineer / Technician will have experience with UNIX-based operating systems and general system administration, including an ability to analyse resource contention on a UNIX server (e.g. knowledge of what “swap” is).

Candidates must also have a good knowledge of networking - an ability to recognise different network conditions, e.g. low throughput, high latency, packet loss, routing failures and also basic network topologies, e.g. subnets. The 1st Line Support Engineer / Technician will be comfortable working on and provisioning, production servers. They must be comfortable using KVM or IPMI to administer and configure servers and have experience with system administration.

Responsibilities as an IT Support Administrator include:

The ideal IT Support Administrator will possess the following:
- At least three years’ experience in an IT Support environment (or a relevant IT qualification, if you are looking for a junior role)
- Excellent knowledge of Windows 7 and Office 2003/2007/2010
- Good knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, Active Directory, Network sharing/permissions
- Good knowledge of basic Windows network components (TCP/IP, DNS, group policy, etc.)
- Good knowledge of content and access protection systems (antivirus, Firewall, VPN, etc.)
- Although not essential, any Microsoft examinations/certification plus knowledge of VMware, Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes/Domino, SharePoint , Cisco Telephone Systems and Solid Edge would be advantageous

Personal skills needed for this IT Support Administrator role:
- Ability to follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system
- Prioritising and managing many open support cases at one time, including Project Work
- Approachable and friendly, ability to work in a team but also self-sufficient and responsible
- Excellent communication skills (English, verbal & written), diagnostic and troubleshooting skills coupled with the ability to prioritise tasks
