This is an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Process Operator to work in Chard, Somerset for the UK's number one dairy business and a company who believe in encouraging success - both business and personal. Extensive full training will be given to the successful applicant.

The Role
As a Manufacturing Process Operator you will be trained to work on shift in the processing of all fresh and cultured creams, all milk reception duties with incoming and outgoing tankers, and some lab testing work and all relevant responsibilities in general process work.

The department is responsible for the production of between 80 and 150 tonnes of cream products on a weekly basis, to be packed into retail packaging. The products range from fresh creams, cultured creams, sauces, flavoured and alcohol based creams.

The position to be filled holds a high level of responsibility due to the critical nature of Product standards and Quality. All employees in this position are expected to comply with all company standards in processing product to a given target in an accurate, clean and hygienic manner.

You will be expected to work in small team groups, and the level of the job will require much decision-making and "right first time" product quality in accordance with recipe and retailer requirements.

Nature & Scope of the Job
As Manufacturing Process Operator, there are several challenges with the job - Hygiene, Cleanliness, Accuracy, Chemical handling and full awareness of all tasks. Because of the importance of the role, training will be done until successfully completed.

All personnel on site are expected to be cross skilled in all areas of the factory in order to provide cover where required. There will be some occasions where you will be expected to accommodate other positions on site. This flexible cover is expected of all staff.

Key steps within this position are:
* Product and process awareness
* Software system familiarity
* Knowledge of CIP requirements
* Milk processing
* A good level of Food Hygiene

You will also be expected to:
* Keep a good standard of accuracy with the high level of documentation.
* Work in a safe manner and understand the importance of Quality, food safety and hygiene.
* Identify potential risks or issues with any product being processed.
* Meet all requirements of good manufacturing practice
* Understand the value of Plant, materials and products.
* Meet OEE targets that are set, and fully comply with all wastage controls.

Hours
The role itself covers a continental shift system of 4 shifts on - 4 shifts off basis alternating from night shift to day shift. Applicants need to be suited to working night shifts and day shifts and have no restrictions to working weekends, as these factors are necessary for 24/7 cover.

Knowledge & Experience Required
To be successful in the role of Manufacturing Process Operator you need:

* A good level of English, both written and spoken.
* Able to meet targets.
* Accuracy when completing documentation.
* Can work as part of a team.
* Good attention to detail
* Fully conversant with the use of computers and process software applications.
* Ability to react to data generated as part of the production process.

Remuneration
For the role of Manufacturing Process Operator, you will receive a salary of £23,000 to £26,000 per annum.

* Variety of driving licences
* National Certificate in Building Studies and Computer Aided Design
* NVQ Level 2 in IT
* Level 5 Higher Diploma in Engineering Surveying





Qualifications required: Not all of these roles require any previous qualification. Some may require 2 GCSEs at C grade in English Language and Maths /Science/ICT.
